Harrahs Entertainment CEO Phil Satre Comments on
Louisiana Legislature Vote to Approve Key Elements
for the Reorganization of Harrahs New Orleans Casino

LAS VEGAS, March 21, 2001 - Phil Satre, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Harrahs Entertainment, Inc. today commented on the vote in the Louisiana Legislature, which approved key elements in a reorganization plan for
JCC Holding Company, owner of Harrahs New Orleans Casino.

We are gratified by the courageous actions taken yesterday by the Louisiana Legislature in making the right business decision to lower the financially untenable state payment for the Harrahs New Orleans casino, Satre said.
More than anything else, yesterdays vote is an affirmation of support for the 3,000 employees of Harrahs New Orleans and their families, whose hard work and dedication to the passage of this bill made a significant impact.

I want to personally thank Governor Mike Foster, Senator Ken Hollis, Speaker Charles DeWitt and Representative Ed Murray for taking a strong pro-business stand during this special session and working to find consensus and commonality among the legislators, Satre said.

I also want to thank Mayor Morial of New Orleans and the City Council for their ongoing support of our efforts to make the New Orleans casino an economic success for the region. And we want to recognize all of the business and labor leaders of the city and state who came together to find solutions and build the framework for a successful enterprise. We look forward to working together
to create and sustain an economic engine in New Orleans and a business enterprise that generates a positive return for our shareholders.
