I am truly excited to work with SVRA, said
France. Combining forces with the association members as well as
our newly named Senior Vice President Brett Huske will make overcoming
the existing challenges a positive experience. I am definitely looking
toward the future of this organization and all of its potential opportunities.

it, differing opinions and strong personalities can work together in harmony
to achieve a common goal.

The History of Snowmass Village Revealed
Winter 2000, Snowmass Village, Colo What was once acres of serene ranch
land is now home to one of Colorados most beautiful mountain towns. Over
the years Snowmass Village has grown into a world-class, year-round resort
while still retaining its quiet, charming mountain atmosphere. In
the 1950s, William Janss, a former ski racer, flier, art collector and
land developer, became interested in the land around the present-day town
of Aspen. Janss, along with his brother Ed, began buying property
in what is now the Snowmass Village area and soon filed for an application
for special use of the land with the Forest Service.
In 1964, the Forest Service granted Janss Investment Corporation a conditional
use permit, and in 1965, gave the go-ahead for development of the land.
Janss Investment Corp. then teamed up with Aspen Skiing Company to launch
Snowmass-at-Aspen, and in 1966, brought Los Angeles-based American Cement
Corporation on board as equal partners in the project.
Snowmass-at-Aspen officially opened on December 17, 1967 with five lodges,
120 condominium units, a dozen private homes, small conference center,
movie theater, four heated swimming pools, 21 shops and six restaurants.
Snowmass-at-Aspen was touted as the most carefully planned ski resort
in the world, with 50-miles of manicured trails, five chairlifts and a
quaint village mall. Today, Snowmass Village continues development
and growth along the guidelines and vision established by Janss nearly
45 years ago. Snowmass Mountain offers 3, 010 acres of skiing with seven
high speed quad-chairs, two triple-chairs, nine double-chairs and two platter
pulls.
Today, Snowmass Village boasts 2,860 guest rooms, a modern 35,000 square-foot
conference center, 87 shops and restaurants in the expanded Village Mall
area, and 40 pools and hot tubs for guests to enjoy.
Snowmass Village has grown into a fully incorporated town with a population
of
1,667. With convenient shuttle transportation, an annual snowfall of
300 inches and more winter and summer activities than you can imagine,
Snowmass Village offers both residents and guests the best of both mountain
and city life at once. |
