| MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (February 7, 2001) - Park Hospitality, the newest
member of Carlson Hospitality Worldwide, today announced the addition of
six new properties in North America to its growing portfolio.
A 148-room Park Inn in Omaha, Neb., and 73-room Park Inn in Platteville, Wis., are currently in operation. Plans for other hotels to open soon include a Park Plaza hotel in Charlotte, N.C., and Park Inn hotels in Burr Ridge, Ill.; Beckley, W.V.; and Montreal, Quebec, Canada. “We are very pleased with the addition of these six properties to the Park Hospitality portfolio,” said Jetse Pottinga, Executive Vice President of Park Hospitality. “Over the next two years, we plan to significantly increase our presence across North America. This development is one of many steps towards achieving that goal.” The addition of six properties increases the number of Park Inns and Park Plaza hotels to more than 80 hotels worldwide. To foster development of the brand, John Sturgess, Vice President of Development for Park Hospitality, has named six directors of development throughout the U.S. Park Hospitality, part of Minneapolis-based Carlson Hospitality Worldwide, consists of Park Plaza and Park Inn hotels in North America. Positioned within the mid-scale to upscale segment of the full service category, Park Plaza hotels are generally 150 rooms or larger and located in downtown, suburban and airport commercial locations. With restaurants, meeting rooms, catering, suite and recreational facilities, the hotels serve the travel needs of business guests, meeting attendees and weekend leisure guests. Park Inn hotels are situated within the value and mid-scale segment of the limited to full service hotel category. Park Inn is primarily a conversion brand that serves a wide range of guests in suburban and leisure destinations. Park Inn hotels are generally 150 rooms or smaller and offer a continental breakfast, as well as special amenities and services for both business and leisure travelers.
