National Trust Historic Hotels of America 
Adding Corporate Partnerships 
Strategic and Allied Partnerships Add Benefit to Members 

WASHINGTON, D.C., January 25, 2000 -- National Trust Historic Hotels of America�s members are now receiving additional services and visibility through partnerships with a number of new corporate allies. Initiatives include everything from discounts for goods and services that benefit member hotels to programs increasing awareness of the Historic Hotels of America brand name. 

�Historic Hotels of America is offering more marketing programs and brand visibility for our member hotels than ever before,� says Thierry Roch, executive director of National Trust Historic Hotels of America.  �There are new marketing initiatives for all members regardless of their size, location or business mix.  Whether reaching travel professionals or consumers via the Internet or magazines, purchasing goods and services at reduced prices, or enhancing their product, Historic Hotels of America members will benefit through these partnerships.� 

Historic Hotels of America has defined two categories of partnerships: 
Allied Members offer high-quality products and services that are useful to hotel guests and/or HHA members.  
       
Strategic Partners help to enhance the visibility of the Historic Hotels of America brand name by promoting special marketing services and incentives.

The following partners were recently named:
 

Alamo (Strategic Partner) - www.alamo.com - Members of the National Trust for Historic Preservation and guests of Historic Hotels members can receive unlimited mileage and up to fifteen percent off retail car rental rates with advance reservations and National Trust identification number. 

b-there.com (Allied Member and Strategic Partner) - b-there is an Internet registration, housing and transportation management solution for the meetings industry.  b-there.com handled registration for the Historic Hotels of America annual meeting. b-there also offers HHA members registration and convention planning services. 

Beringer Wines (Allied Member) - www.beringer.com - Beringer Wine Estates is a leader in the Californian premium wine industry.  HHA label wines and special vintages will be available to member hotels.  Beringer will sponsor the wine at selected HHA events. 

Caswell-Massey Essential Amenities, Inc. (Allied Member) - www.caswell-massey.com - Founded in 1752, Caswell-Massey is the oldest chemist and perfumer in America.  It is a purveyor of fine toiletries, fragrances and luxurious bath and body products.  Caswell-Massey has designed custom HHA logo bath amenities that are available to member hotels at a special price.  A donation from sales of the amenities to member hotels is made to the National Trust for Historic Preservation and HHA.

Equation Research (Allied Member and Strategic Partner) - Equation Research is a full-service research firm focusing on guest and employee satisfaction studies for the hospitality industry.  Equation Research will assist HHA by evaluating hotel guest comments regarding stays at HHA member hotels. HHA members will also receive preferred pricing to establish satisfaction studies at the hotel level.

The History Factory (Allied Member) - www.historyfactory.com - Since 1979, The History Factory has helped leading hospitality organizations leverage the past through heritage-based publications, video and multimedia, exhibits, media relations and archives.  The History Factory assisted HHA with its historical presentation announcing new member hotels at its annual meeting.  

HotelView (Allied Member) - www.hotelview.com - HotelView produces two- and four-minute streaming hotel videos for the Internet that take viewers on a hotel tour.  HotelView offers discounted rates to members of Historic Hotels of America to create videos for their Web sites.

Interval International (Strategic Partner) - www.intervalworld.com - Interval International is a vacation exchange network of 1,800 resorts in more than 75 countries.  HHA will provide special hotel offers and discounts to Interval�s 350,000 �preferred� frequent traveler program members.

Internet Pictures Corporation (Allied Member) - www.ipix.com - IPIX Virtual Tours give visitors a 360 degree self-guided virtual experience of lodging facilities anytime they are online.  IPIX offers HHA members a discount off regular lodging tour prices during the first year of service.

National Trust for Historic Preservation-Marketing and Licensing Departments (Allied Member) www.nationaltrust.org -The Marketing and Licensing Departments work to generate revenue to support the National Trust�s preservation efforts through corporate sponsorships and product development.  The Marketing division collaborates with HHA to create sponsorships while the Licensing division looks to member hotels for inspiration when developing new products.

NOVA (Allied Member) - NOVA Information Services, Inc., is the National Trust�s designated member credit card processor for Visa and Mastercard.  NOVA offers HHA members reduced fees for credit card processing and donates a percentage of sales from their revenue to the National Trust and HHA.

Official Hotel Guide (Allied Member) - www.cahners.com - The Official Hotel Guide provides comprehensive profiles of 29,000 hotels and resorts worldwide.  OHG offers significant advertising discounts to HHA members.

PlanSoft (Allied Member) - www.mpoint.com - PlanSoft is an Internet-based site for meeting planners which combines the energy and enthusiasm of meeting planners with the speed and power of high-technology meeting planning.  HHA members receive preferred pricing through PlanSoft.

Premier Magazine (Allied Member) - www.premierhotels.com - Premier presents first-class and luxury hotels to the travel trade professional specializing in upscale travel. Premier offers advertising discounts to HHA members.

Preservation Magazine (Allied Member) - www.nationaltrust.org - As the magazine of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, Preservation explores people impacting historic places and communities, examines issues, trends and public policy and covers topics such as history, art, architecture, travel and books. Preservation offers advertising discounts to HHA members, as well as special rates for placing the magazine in guest rooms.

Resort Hotel Association (Allied Member) - The Resort Hotel Association is a non-profit, member managed insurance organization that provides property and casualty insurance products to its association members.  A percentage of sales to member hotels will be rebated to HHA.

Richey International (Allied Member and Strategic Partner) - www.richeyint.com - Richey International works within the hospitality industry developing quality management programs that define the goals and achievements of all service staff to enhance the company�s performance, competitiveness and stature.  Richey International provided assistance to HHA in designing self-assessment historic standards and will allow HHA member hotels to develop their own quality assurance program. 

StarCite (Allied Member) - www.starcite.com  - StarCite is an Internet-based Web site for meeting planners offering a free online tool from which they can plan meetings, search for suppliers via extensive listings, negotiate deals, analyze options and manage all aspects of their event planning and data.  StarCite offers HHA members preferred pricing.

Traveling America (Allied Member and Strategic Partner) - www.travelingamerica.com - Traveling America has created two- to seven- day leisure travel experiences based on history, heritage, culture and scenic roads. Historic self-driving tours feature HHA member hotels and driving itineraries with packages and rates offered at member hotels.  HHA members may develop property specific packages through Traveling America.

TravelSmith (Strategic Partner) - www.travelsmith.com � TravelSmith offers versatile, wrinkle-free, light-weight and comfortable travel clothing as well as luggage and accessories. HHA will be featured on the TravelSmith Web site and in their catalogue showcasing rates and packages at member hotels.  Travelers booking a Historic Driving Tour through HHA will receive a discount on TravelSmith merchandise.

National Trust Historic Hotels of America is a program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation.  HHA has identified 167 hotels in 41 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico that have faithfully maintained their historic integrity, architecture and ambience.  To be selected for this program, a hotel must be at least 50 years old, listed in or eligible for the National Register of Historic Places or recognized locally as having historic significance.
