Hilton Madison Monona Terrace in Madison, Wis. |
MILWAUKEE - Feb. 26, 2001-- Marcus Hotels and
Resorts, a division of The Marcus Corporation (NYSE:MCS - news), today
announced the opening of its newest company-owned location, the Hilton
Madison Monona Terrace in Madison, Wis. The 14-story, 240-room property
will function as the Madison Monona Terrace Community and Convention Centers
headquarters hotel.
The Hilton Madison Monona Terrace is a truly unique hotel, said Lee Berthelsen, president and chief executive officer of Marcus Hotels and Resorts. While on one hand it has all of the state-of-the art features of a modern convention center hotel, it offers the ambience and superior guest service of a boutique property. The Hilton name is synonymous not only with convention and meeting business, but also with luxury accommodations and an international standard of service. And, when you combine this exciting Hilton property with the legendary Frank Lloyd Wright-designed Monona Terrace Community and Convention Center, you truly have a stunning complex. The full-service hotel is located at 9 East Wilson Street in Madison. In addition to its 240 state-of-the-art guest rooms including 42 suites, the property also features: four meeting/board rooms; a lobby lounge with fireplace; an indoor pool and state-of-the-art fitness center; and an underground garage capable of accommodating 193 vehicles. The property also features the Capitol Club, a top floor private concierge lounge for the ultimate convenience of frequent travelers. The hotel is directly connected to the Community and Convention Center by means of an all-weather, climate-controlled skywalk. The hotel is located adjacent to 9 East, an upscale American brasserie in the historic Catholic Diocese Chancery Building, which was renovated as part of the hotel project. The restaurant is an exciting amenity for the Hilton Madison, said Bill Otto, incoming president of Marcus Hotels and Resorts. It combines the lively atmosphere and robust cuisine of a French Brasserie with the rich bounty of Americas heartland foods. Featuring views of Lake Monona and the State Capitol, the hotel is in convenient walking distance of the State Capitol, other key State offices and the University of Wisconsin campus. We believe the Hilton Madison will be popular with convention goers as well as business, university and leisure guests, Otto said. The project was made possible through a public/private endeavor, which includes a majority investment by Marcus Hotels and Resorts and tax incremental financing from the City of Madison. The Hilton Madison is the ninth addition for Marcus
