of the Outrigger Wailea Resort |
| HONOLULU, OAHU, HAWAII - February 7, 2001 - After four years as Outrigger
Hotels & Resorts’ vice president of Pacific operations and general
manager of the Outrigger Guam Resort, Dorsey Brady is returning to Hawaii
as general manager of the Outrigger Wailea Resort on Maui. Brady, who assumes
his new duties on March 1, 2001, replaces Jay Furfaro, who has left the
company to assume a new post on Kauai.
The Outrigger Wailea Resort has just completed a $25 million renovation that repositions the property as one of Maui’s top island resorts. Along with room upgrades and structural renovations, new features at the resort include the luxurious Mandara Spa, ,a water park, and Hula Moons restaurant, which specializes in fusing Hawaiian ingredients with Pacific Rim cuisine. “Dorsey will play a key role in delivering the high-quality and upscale resort experiences our guests anticipate, and delivering them consistent with Outrigger’s philosophy of providing an authentic island experience,” Sorenson said. Brady was instrumental in the Outrigger Guam Resort’s showcasing of Chamorro culture at its restaurants, room services, on-property activities, and special events. He led Outrigger Guam’s “Inafa’ maolek” guest service program, which is Guam’s version of Outrigger’s famous Ke ‘Ano Wa’a Hawaiian hospitality program. The cultural program includes Chamorro-speaking staff, opportunities to learn about familial Chamorro activities, exhibits by Guam artisans, and performances by Island musicians and dance groups. With more than 30 years of experience in the hospitality industry, Brady has held senior management positions with a variety of hotel, condominium and resort companies, including Tollman-Hundley Hotels, International Innkeepers, Continental Inns, Quality Hotels and Resorts, Del Webb Hotels and Inter-Island Resorts. Brady joined Outrigger Hotels & Resorts in 1990 as vice president of operations in charge of the company’s deluxe properties at the time. He later transferred to the Big Island of Hawaii as vice president and general manager of The Royal Waikoloan, now the Outrigger Waikoloa Beach Hotel and Resort. Before moving to Guam, Brady was Outrigger’s vice president of resort management overseeing the company’s condominium holdings. Brady is an active member in the communities where he resides. He is also a member of several professional organizations, including PATA, the Confrerie de la Chaine des Rotisseurs and the Associations Internationale des Skal Clubs. “I am extremely pleased to be named general manager of the Outrigger Wailea Resort,” Brady said. “The property not only has fantastic guest facilities and amenities, but it has the additional benefit of being culturally alive and rich in Hawai’i history. “It will be difficult for me to leave Guam after spending some of the most rewarding years of my professional and personal life on this beautiful island,” Brady said. “The warmth and generosity of the Chamorro people - and of all the Western Pacific Islanders who call Micronesia home - set an example of what it means to be an excellent host. To all my friends on Guam I say, ‘si yu’os ma’ase’ for everything you mean to me and will continue to mean to me.” Outrigger Hotels & Resorts is division of Outrigger Enterprises, Inc., the largest locally owned lodging company in Hawaii and one of the fastest growing lodging companies in the Pacific. |
