Princeton, New Jersey (April, 1997) - The Hillier Group, Architects, in association with Charles D. Jordan, AIA & Associates, Ltd., has been chosen to provide architectural services for a new luxury resort hotel on the island of Saipan. The project will be handled by designers with the firms Hospitality Studio, supported with mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection services by Hilliers Clarks Summit office.

The four-star hotel will actually be built into the side of Mount Tapochau in a stepped configuration. The facility will consist of 225 luxury guestrooms with balconies which will cascade down the mountain, affording magnificent views of the beaches and the Philippine Sea. There will be three restaurants, including one atop the hotel. The banquet room, which will take advantage of the view, will hold 350 people, and a private dining room will also be available. At the base of the hotel, a water park will overlook the coast and will allow guests to enjoy the lush landscape while relaxing poolside.

The project represents both another important project for the Hospitality Studio and another step for Hillier into the Asian and Pan-Pacific markets. In addition to the design of the $850,000,000 Sydney Harbour Casino Complex, the architecture firm is also working in Japan and is pursuing projects in China and Taiwan. Observes senior hotel designer Paul Bellisario, At a time when hotel development is clearly a factor in Asias overall economic growth, we are delighted to be invited to apply our experience to projects in this part of the world.

The Hillier Groups Hospitality/Entertainment Studio, under the direction of Principal Robert Blakeman, plans and designs hotels, resorts, conference centers, restaurants, and casinos. The Studio has just completed design of one of the largest casino and entertainment complexes in the world in Sydney, Australia as well as the largest navigable riverboat casino in this country in East Chicago, Indiana. Hospitality combines the creative talents of its design specialists, experienced in both theme and product design, with the firm-wide resources of the nations third largest architecture firm.

The Hillier Group has offices in Princeton, New Jersey; New York; Philadelphia; Washington, D.C.; Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania; Dallas, Texas; and Sydney, Australia. The firm has been involved with projects in 41 states and eighteen foreign countries and has been recognized by more than 200 design awards.
