Aston Hotel & Resorts Expands into Bali

Honolulu (March 19,1997) - Aston Hotels & Resorts announced today it had signed an agreement to open a operate the Aston Bali Resort, a 189-room luxury beachfront resort currently under construction on the Tanjung Benoa Peninsula adjacent to Balis Nusa Dua area.

Aston is the first Hawaii-based management company to operate hotels in Bali. The new four-story resort has been designed in a U-shape to provide most rooms with both ocean and courtyard views. Planners have included 18 ocean-front suites which will be located at both ends of the resort complex. Guests will enter a three-story, open-air lobby decorated with Balinese artwork, woodcarvings and status.

the Aston Bali Resort fronts on one of the best white sandy beaches in Bali, and is situated a mile from the only government approved water-sports activity area. As a result, guests will be able to enjoy the warm waters in front of the resort and have easy access to nearby parasailing, jet-skiing and other water recreation activities.

Highlights of the resorts design include a 9,000 square-foot, freshwater swimming pool featuring an unusual sandy edge which will blend in with the beach, a sunken bar at the pools rim, a full-service spa and health club, a casual Italian dining and deli area, a formal restaurant featuring Balinese cuisine, an Japanese restaurant, a lounge, a separate lounge featuring Balinese music, various shops and boutiques and health clinic.

This acquisition is first entree into Asia, said Charles Brookfield, executive vice president and chief operating officer of Aston Hotels & Resorts. We are excited about entering the Indonesian marketplace with this four-star product and look forward to future international resorts which will compliment this beautiful resort.

Aston has scheduled a soft opening for the resort in late 1997. Primary markets of the resort will include Japan, Australia, Indonesia, North America and Europe.

Based in Honolulu, Aston Hotels & Resorts also owns and/or manages quality condominium resorts and hotels on all four major Hawaiian islands.
