By Dave Mayfield, The Virginian-PilotMcClatchy-Tribune Regional News

May 29--The Hampton Inn & Suites in Corolla, N.C., the northernmost of the Outer Banks' oceanfront hotels, was sold to a hotel operator in Ocean City, Md. Terms weren't disclosed. The Harrison Group plans renovations for the 123-room property, said Doug Henkel, an executive of CBRE|Hotels, which represented the sellers, Winston-Salem, N.C.-based Turnpike Properties and its operating affiliate.

On its LinkedIn webpage, Harrison Group says it owns 10 oceanfront hotels and 12 restaurants in Ocean City.

Last May, Turnpike Properties' affiliates sold The Sanderling Resort & Spa in Duck, N.C., to Northview Hotel Group of Westport, Conn. Northview closed The Sanderling late last year and reopened it early this month after $6 million in renovations.
