Home cooking: Vegas' Fieri to open restaurant at the Quad (Las Vegas Sun)

By Ed Komenda, Las Vegas SunMcClatchy-Tribune Regional News

June 05--Guy Fieri is setting up shop in Las Vegas.

The UNLV grad turned restaurateur, chef and TV host will open his first Las Vegas restaurant in late 2013 at The Quad Resort & Casino.

Fieri, who has yet to name the restaurant, developed the 7,000 square-foot restaurant with Caesars Entertainment, which owns the Quad.

"This is a true homecoming for me," Fieri said in a statement. "I remember the beginning of the food revolution in Las Vegas, in the early '90s as a college student, and now I am finally opening my very own restaurant right in the heart of the Las Vegas Strip. I am stoked."

Fieri, who received a bachelor's in hotel administration from UNLV in 1990, is the host of the popular Food Network series "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives." He also has appeared in several other programs on the network.

His Vegas restaurant will feature a large outdoor patio and dining area slated to become The Quad's main culinary attraction, a few steps away from Carnival Court and the resort's entrance.

The Quad, previously known as the Imperial Palace, has been through some major changes in the last year. Caesars officials say Fieri's restaurant will fit right in.

"Food is a very important piece of the redevelopment of the center Strip and The Quad Resort & Casino," said Rick Mazer,Regional President of Caesars Entertainment Corp. "Guy's energy is infectious, combined with his culinary talents andstrong TV presence, guests are sure to be entertained."
