MGM Resorts joins forces with Hyatt (Las Vegas Sun)

By Ed Komenda, Las Vegas SunMcClatchy-Tribune Regional News

June 05--MGM Resorts International has been busy forming business partnerships with travel agencies.

The latest relationship -- announced today -- joins the loyalty programs of MGM and Hyatt Hotels Corp. Travelers will soon simultaneously gain perks from both MGM's M life and Hyatt Gold Passport programs.

The partnership goes live June 20. That's when Gold Passport members will be able to earn and redeem Hyatt Gold Passport points at 12 of MGM's Strip resorts. At the same, M life members will be able to earn points while staying at all Hyatt hotels and resorts around the world.

Company officials say the relationship marks the largest collaboration of loyalty programs in Las Vegas. The deal includes more than 450 hotels worldwide and 40,000 hotel rooms in Las Vegas.

"Our new relationship with MGM Resorts International underscores Hyatt's focus on listening to guests and developing innovative strategies that set us apart and add value to loyalty program membership," said Jeff Zidell, senior vice president, Hyatt Gold Passport, in a statement.

Reservations can be booked through Hyatt.com and mlife.com, as well as individual MGM and Hyatt locations.

Participating MGM properties include: Bellagio, Aria, Vdara, MGM Grand, The Signature at MGM Grand, Mandalay Bay, The Hotel at Mandalay Bay, Mirage, Monte Carlo, New York-New York, Luxor and Excalibur.

MGM last week inked a similar deal with Southwest Airlines.

Members of Southwest's Rapid Rewards and MGM's M life programs now can accrue points toward free flights and VIP hotel stays from both companies.
