By Kevin Collison, The Kansas City StarMcClatchy-Tribune Regional News April 19--The Kansas City Convention & Visitors Association has landed four conventions that are expected to add $17 million to the local economy, including the 2019 Biennial Convention for the Mennonite Church USA. The Mennonite Church USA convention is the largest event announced by the CVA, and is expected to attract 7,000 attendees and generate 9,000 hotel nights, adding $5 million to the local economy. The church also is holding its 2015 biennial convention in Kansas City. The Society of American Military Engineers will hold its 2013 Small Business Conference that is expected to draw 2,000 attendees. The event is expected to use 3,824 room nights and have a $3.5 million economic impact. The 2014 National Conventions and Trainings Spring Convention will bring about 3,300 people to Kansas City. That event is expected to generate 3,600 room nights and add $2.5 million to the economy. Finally, the National Council of Teachers of English will hold its 2018 Conference for College Composition and Communication in Kansas City.
