BRIEF: EEOC suit alleges discrimination at Hickory Hills golf club, banquet hall: Women and blacks weren't treated fairly, government says (Chicago Tribune)

Chicago TribuneMcClatchy-Tribune Regional News

Mar. 26--A federal lawsuit was filed Tuesday against a Hickory Hills golf club and banquet hall alleging sexual harassment and racially motivated hiring and firing.

The lawsuit, filed by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, alleges female employees of Hickory Hills Country Club Inc. and Chateau Del Mar Inc. were subjected to sexual and gender-based harassment and then fired when they complained about it, according to a copy of the suit. The suit also alleges that the defendants discriminated against black employees, either by not hiring them or by firing them because of their race.

Steve Gianakas, owner of both facilities, declined to comment and referred all calls to his attorney, Thomas Paris. Paris could not be reached for comment.
