| By Jackie Burke Grumish, American News, Aberdeen, S.D.McClatchy-Tribune Regional News Apr. 17--Plans for a new banquet center, along with a proposed Hampton Inn and Suites, have been submitted to the city's planning and zoning office. Brett Bill, planning and zoning director, said Lamont Companies Inc. was approved for three variances by the Aberdeen Board of Zoning Adjustment last week -- they ranged from structure variances to property line variances. Preliminary plans on file with the city identify the project as a Hampton Inn and Suites and banquet center. The plans show the banquet center being built directly south of the Holiday Inn Express. The Hampton Inn and Suites would be built directly east of the proposed banquet center. The two hotels would be attached to the banquet center by walkways, but would not be attached to each other, according to the documents. Jeff Lamont, owner, and Nate Kessler, director of operations for Lamont Companies Inc., would not confirm the project. The application on file with the city shows a 55-foot building at 3310 Seventh Ave. S.E. Approval was also given to build 125 parking stalls at the same location.
