International Presence 18 New Properties Slated for Opening by 2004 |
| TORONTO, Canada — January 2001 - Four Seasons
Hotels and Resorts is expanding its international presence with approximately
18 new properties slated for opening by the year 2004.
Future Developments in Canada Four Seasons Resort Whistler, Canada (2003)- Developed by Intrawest Corporation, a leading operator and developer of year-round destination resorts across North America, the new Four Seasons Resort will be located at the base of Blackcomb Mountain within the British Columbia Coastal Mountains. In 1999, the region attracted two million skier days, and offers excellent lift services. Snow-boarding and heli-skiing facilities are also offered. Summer activities include hiking, mountain-biking, white-water rafting and golf. With spectacular views of Blackcomb Mountain to the east and Whistler Mountain to the west as well as Sproat and Rainbow Mountains, the 254-room property will feature ski concierge service, a full spa with health club and outdoor pool, a restaurant/bar, meeting facilities and underground parking. Guests will enjoy convenient access to numerous championship golf courses, including Whistler Golf Club, Chateau Whistler Golf Club, Big Sky and Nicklaus North. Future Developments in the U.S. Four Seasons Hotel San Francisco (2001) - Slated to open in 2001, Four Seasons Hotel San Francisco will be part of a major mixed-use development, located on Market Street between Third and Fourth Streets. Rising high above Market Street and the Yerba Buena district, the new Four Seasons property will occupy 11 floors of a 36-story mixed-use development. The Hotel will include 277 spacious and well-appointed guest rooms and suites, a restaurant, lounge/bar, comprehensive business center, and approximately 16,000 square feet of banquet and meeting space. It will be directly connected, with a private entry, to a two-story, 100,000 square-foot sports club. Millennium Partners and WDG Ventures, both based in San Francisco, are the developers of the project. Four Seasons Hotel Miami (2002) - Located at Brickell Avenue between 14th Terrace and 14th Lane, one block from Biscayne Bay, the 297-room Four Seasons Hotel Miami will be the centerpiece of a proposed mixed-use development in the city of Miami. The plan, which is being developed by Millennium Partners, also will include luxury residences, prime retail and office space, and a major sports club. Future Developments in the Caribbean Four Seasons Resort Great Exuma at Emerald Bay, The Bahamas (2002) - Set within a larger, master-planned residential resort community on 470 acres, the 235-room property will be developed by Emerald Bay Resort and Co. and its affiliates. The mixed-use project will feature a Four Seasons branded championship golf course designed by Greg Norman, with accompanying clubhouse, a 60-unit Four Seasons Residence Club, a full-service spa, and multiple dining venues. Future Developments in Latin America Four Seasons Resort Costa Rica (2002) - This resort, located on the Papagayo Peninsula in the province of Guanacaste, is to be developed by Ecodesarrollo Papagayo and associates in conjunction with Four Seasons. With a projected opening date in late 2002, the property will be a part of a larger planned residential resort community encompassing 2,250 acres of the peninsula, including prime Pacific Ocean beachfront climbing to a 320-foot plateau overlooking Virador Bay and Banca Bay. The site is 10 miles from the new Liberia International Airport. The Hotel’s 170 guest rooms and suites and 40 villa units will be designed in one- and two-story buildings forming a landscaped “hillside village” overlooking the ocean. The property will offer two dining venues plus poolside dining, a full-service spa and health club, four tennis courts and a tennis center, fresh-water swimming pools, water sports facilities, a Four Seasons championship golf course by a leading designer plus access to two additional courses, and a 40-unit Four Seasons Residence Club. A marina and possibly a casino are on the drawing board for the master resort project. Four Seasons Resort Puerto Rico (2003) - Four
Seasons has entered into an agreement for the development of Four Seasons
Resort Puerto Rico within the larger resort community proposed for the
site on the northeast coast of the island known as San Miguel. The Hotel
will offer 350 guest rooms and suites, multiple dining venues and 30,000
square feet of meeting space. Recreational areas will include a casino,
a tennis center, beach club, and at least one Four Seasons branded championship
golf course by a major designer. Future plans include a 100-unit vacation
home development and Four Seasons Residence Club.
Four Seasons Hotel Dublin, Ireland ( 2001) - Situated in the Ballsbridge area, Four Seasons Hotel Dublin will offer a tranquil garden setting within approximately three-and-a-half acres of the historic Royal Dublin Society’s 42-acre show grounds. The Hotel will have 258 guest rooms and suites, as well as a restaurant, lobby lounge, meeting space and a health club. Scheduled to open in early 2001, the Hotel will be the first property in Ireland for Four Seasons. Four Seasons Hotel Prague (2001) - Gloriously situated on the banks of the Vltava River, the 162-room Four Seasons Hotel Prague looks out at Prague Castle and the charming Mala Strana, or Lesser Quarter, a stone’s throw from the Charles Bridge. Its prime location makes the property an ideal base for exploring the cobbled Old Town streets, dotted with museums, churches, concert halls, and charming sidewalk cafés, restaurants and boutiques. Guests will be able to enjoy a myriad of musical experiences in the city’s baroque churches, many of which are permanent concert venues. Reflecting the history of the city, the Hotel embodies five centuries of architectural styles in a design that unites beautifully restored Baroque and Renaissance buildings with harmonious new construction. Local architects Dum a Mesto have achieved remarkable fluidity in the overall design, and aesthetic harmony with the surrounding historic buildings. Fastidious workmanship by skilled craftsmen has ensured fine preservation of facades and accurate replication of detail in windows and stairwells. Four Seasons Hotel Gresham Palace Budapest (2002) - Fronting on the Chain Bridge and overlooking the Danube, the new Hotel will provide superb access to the city center and feature panoramic views of Budapest’s most celebrated landmarks (such as Mathias Church, Fisherman’s Bastion, Gellert Hill and Buda Hills).
Four Seasons Resort Côte d’Azur, France
(2002) - Four Seasons first resort in France is expected to open in
2002, following development by Coréal Management on behalf of Golf
Resort “Terre Blanche” S.A.R.L. Tourettes - Château Terre Blanche,
a company controlled by Dietmar Hopp (one of the founders of SAP AG) and
his sons. The Hotel will be part of a larger mixed-residential and resort
community on a 658-acre site near the Provençal village of Fayence,
about 15 miles north-east of Cannes. With views of Tourrettes, Fayence
and the Haut-Maritime Alps, the 100-room property will have on-site a tennis
center and two David Thomas-designed championship golf courses, all to
be managed by Four Seasons. The development will also include a 150-unit
residential villa complex.
Four Seasons Hotel Shanghai, China (2001) -
As Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts first development in Mainland China,
Four Seasons Hotel Shanghai is centrally located at the intersection of
Weihai Road and Shimen Road, near the core business and shopping center
of the city. The Hotel will feature approximately 440 guest rooms, a club
lounge, four restaurants, a roof-top entertainment bar and dining room,
health and fitness facilities, a business center and extensive meeting
space.
Four Seasons Resort Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt (2001) - Located at the southern tip of the Sinai Peninsula in Egypt, Four Seasons Resort Sharm El Sheikh will feature approximately 141 guest rooms, 112 chalets and 34 luxurious villas. The Resort will be integrated into the terraced slopes to recreate the image of an ancient Egyptian hillside town and to optimize Red Sea views. The main building will house the majority of public spaces, including a lobby, two restaurants, meeting rooms and a health club. Other recreational facilities will include a spa and beauty salon, two tennis courts, freshwater swimming pools, a unique “floating” salt-water pool, a water sports and scuba-diving pavilion and a marina. Four Seasons Hotel Amman, Jordan (2002) - The company’s first hotel in Jordan will be located on one of the highest points of land in Amman, allowing for exceptional views of the city. The 197-room Hotel will be strategically positioned between the prestigious residential area of As Suwayfiyya and the Ash Shumaysani financial district, adjacent to Al Kindi Street and just to the north of Prince Faisal Circle. Approximately 17 percent of the Hotel’s accommodations will be luxury suites. Other features will include two restaurants, a tea lounge, library bar, business center, extensive banquet and meeting space, large retail complex, and valet and self-parking. Health facilities will include a fully equipped fitness center, massage and spa treatment rooms, racquet sports, indoor and outdoor pool, and separate men’s and women’s sauna, steam room and whirlpool. Four Seasons Hotel Riyadh, Saudi Arabia (2002) - Slated to open in 2002, Four Seasons Hotel Riyadh will be an important component of the Kingdom Trade Center mixed-used facility located in the El Rahmaniah district. It will be the luxury hotel company’s first property to open in Saudi Arabia. The Kingdom Trade Center is being designed as the most prestigious multi-purpose development in Riyadh, with international luxury quality throughout all aspects of the project. The new Hotel will feature 242 guest rooms (about 20 percent of which will be suites), 22 serviced residential hotel suites, two restaurants, a lobby tea lounge, business center, and substantial social and business meeting space located at the wedding and conference facility. The property is owned and being developed by Kingdom Investments Inc, a company controlled by His Royal Highness Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, who is an important investor and strategic partner in Four Seasons. Four Seasons Hotel Alexandria, Egypt (2004) - The Hotel will be located within a multi-component project on the site of the former San Stefano Hotel on Shari El Corniche, overlooking the Mediterranean. Talaat Mostafa, the developer, is also responsible for two other Four Seasons properties in Egypt (Four Seasons Resort Sharm El Sheikh and Four Seasons Hotel, Cairo at Nile Plaza). The 120-room Hotel will offer spectacular views of the Mediterranean Sea, three restaurants, a tea lounge, library bar and a café/bistro. A sophisticated business center is planned, plus meeting space and an independent ballroom facility. Recreational facilities will include a health club and outdoor pool. The Hotel will additionally service 120 residential units. Four Seasons Hotel Cairo at Nile Plaza, Egypt (2002) - Four Seasons second property in Cairo will be a 374-room luxury hotel, forming part of the prestigious Nile Plaza mixed-use facility which is located in the Garden City area, across the Corniche from the Nile River. The Hotel will offer four restaurants, a library bar, a lobby tea lounge, a nightclub, an extensive business center and substantial meeting space. Hotel guests will have access to the membership health club and swimming facilities.
